Through our Youth Innovation Showcase, NIMBLE Mindset is providing the opportunity for young entrepreneurs who are interested in creating their own startups to present their innovations on stage during the NIMBLE Innovative Women in Business gala from 5 pm - 9pm on Thursday, October 10, 2024 hosted by partner Fenwick & West Silicon Valley. Selected young innovators will receive invaluable feedback from event attendees, including 120+ startup founders, venture capitalists, angel investors as well as executives from large corporations such as Tesla, Visa, Apple, Adobe and Salesforce. This feedback and phenomenal networking opportunity is aimed at helping young entrepreneurs turn their ideas into successful ventures and kickstart their careers in the business world.
One of the teams from a prior NIMBLE Youth Innovation Showcase was a group of five girls from Nueva School who presented their innovation called Unwind, a product created to alleviate stress and help with anxiety. Their research on anxiety led them to discover that 25% of teenagers in America are affected by anxiety, resulting in performance issues in school, missing out on social experiences, or engaging in dangerous behaviors. After interviewing people and learning that a common coping mechanism for this problem is finding one’s pulse or heartbeat, they created their product. Unwind is a handheld device that produces a calming and comforting pulse that mimics a heartbeat and is accompanied by an LED light that dims and brightens rhythmically in order to reduce stress in an individual.
NIMBLE Mindset encourages all youth entrepreneurs aged 15-22 with at least one female on their team to apply with a product or service designed to create positive change.

Want to participate but need an idea?
Here are some ways to come up with ideas:
Identify a problem that can be realistically solved. The adversity can be something that you have observed in other people or experienced yourself. It could be a minor hindrance or a large-scale adversity that affects a multitude of people. We recommend identifying a problem that you are passionate about.
Do your research! Find information about the problem, such as how long it has been happening, what the cause of it is, and any other statistics that can be helpful to know. This step can be done through extensive google searches, interviews, surveys and more.
Brainstorm solutions to the problem. There could be many approaches to solving the issue so jot out as many ideas as possible.
Create a business plan for each of the solutions. Figure out your budget, the cost of materials, how much you would sell the product/service for, the target market, how you would advertise the product/service and how to make your innovation unique from competitors.
Select the solution that has the most realistic impact and business plan.
